With an eye for design, a knack for words and a natural talent for making motherhood look both stylish and easy, blogger Kailee Wright shares a few thoughts on the recent arrival of her fourth child, Houston:
What was the first thing that ran through your mind the first time you saw Houston?
The first time I saw Houston I felt pure happiness and relief. We worried about losing him my entire pregnancy… So to finally be able to see him here and healthy was just the biggest sight of relief and joy I have ever felt!
You waited to find out if you were having a baby boy or girl. What was the best part about waiting until he was born to find out his gender?
The anticipation and the huge surprise at the end was the best part! We were pretty sure that this will be our last baby and had never waited to find out the sex of the baby at delivery. I really wanted to experience that surprise, and wanted my little family to as well.
What was your favorite part about watching your children meet Houston for the first time?
Think of the excitement and anticipation of your children on Christmas morning, and then multiply that by ten!! That’s how it felt for me. Seeing their little faces light up as they ran into the room, and all the squeals coming from them as they found out he was a boy!! Our little people knew about only one of our three miscarriages, so they felt like they had waited so long for this baby that they had prayed for over and over. The overwhelming joy on their faces I will never forget.
What is the best part about becoming a family of six?
I feel like we have waited to become a family of six for quite a long time. So for it to finally be here…I just feel totally complete. Houston has been such a blessing and has filled that empty, sad space in my heart. As a family, we have slowed down a bit to really try and enjoy the little moments. If you asked my kids this question, they would probably say that we were able to fill up the last seat in our van! Haha!
Do you have any advice for first time moms on delivery day?
Be ready for everything. Haha. Just know that there is no “wrong” way to have a baby. There’s a million right ways…natural, epidural, c-section etc. I feel if you just go in relaxed and with an open mind knowing anything can happen, you can fully enjoy one of the most precious and exciting moments of your life.
